This was sent to me by my sister, who has friends in South Carolina.
I though it would be interesting to pass along as it also includes
letterboxing. You may have to copy and then past into your web
browser.

Not that this isn't still an important issue but isn't
this the same issue that was brought up on this
list March 21 and again April 16th? I am wondering
if it is necessary to bring it up over and over... Funhog

@ funhog1, Here, here!
I've heard there's an amendment to the bill which would place a "sin
tax" on letterboxing and geocaching in addition to restricting the
activities. It's being called the "Prevention of Invaders at Grampa's
Grave" amendment.
Since LB and GC are subversive, secret groups, the plan is to apply
the "PIGG" tax to stamping supplies and GPS devices. The amendment is
in committee debate right now, but is expect to pass. The "PIGG" tax
is expected to increase the cost of stamping supplies by 87 - 106%.
Since the tax is so arbitrary, the Scrapbooking Community and Greeting
Card Hobbyists--fearing the tax's impact on their activities--are now
working aggressively against the tax amendment. They've formed a
political action committee to lobby the SC legislature against the
tax. The PAC is called "Hobbyists for the American Way and
Godliness", "HAWG" for short.

Given the rabid nature of many scrapbookers and card makers as
concerns their beloved hobby, I think I'm going to stand back and
let them have at it. The SC legislature doesn't have a chance. ;-)

If this is a repeat, I'm sorry, I wasn't getting on the boards that
much over the past few months.
